Rangreza Movie Review– A Romantic Musical Ride

Pakistani cinema is on the boom compared to last year and it is absolutely changing the prospect of the entertainment industry in the country.

Rangreza was released on 21st December under the production banner of Vision Art Films. It is a musical romantic drama film directed by Amir Mohiuddin and written by Akhtar Qayyum. The film stars Gohar Rasheed, Bilal Ashraf, Urwa Hocane, Ghana Ali and Alyzeh Gabol.

The movie is about different mindsets and schools of thought, and in the end how they come together. The girl Reshmi (Urwa Hocane) belongs to a traditional Qawwal family who is engaged to her cousin, Waseem (Gohar Rasheed). Ali, a famous pop-star played by Bilal Ashraf falls in love with Reshmi. However, the story gets momentum when the conflict starts between Waseem and Ali.

Beautiful Urwa Hocane played the lead role as a Reshmi and did a terrific job with her character. Whereas, Gohar Rasheed as a Waseem is way too brilliant and shines in his role. Although, Bilal Ashraf looks handsome, sexy and did a great job with his script. Ghana Ali and Alyzeh were a breath of fresh air on the big screen but we hope the two get more screen time.

Furthermore, we have witnessed some great music such as ‘Phool Khil Jaayein’ by Abida Parveen and Asrar and ‘Bulleya’ by Asrar. Song ‘Baqiya’ is a treat both to eyes and ears. (Wow! Amazing songs and lyrics).

Having said that, Rangreza could have been better with a well-written script and focused on details.

On the whole, “Rangreza” is a simple film which has its moments and shortcomings.

Final – Regardless of its drawbacks, Rangreza is still a happy movie to watch.
